Augmented Reality Public Art Initiative – International Symposium on Augmented Reality Public Art and Public Lecture Theory and Practice of AR Art by Tamiko Thiel

We cordially invite you to join the Augmented Reality Public Art Initiative – International Symposium on Augmented Reality Public Art (cum Opening of Exhibition at the Heritage Discovery Centre, Kowloon Park) and Public Lecture Theory and Practice of AR Art by Tamiko Thiel (cum Opening of Exhibition at Hang Seng Management College), which will be held respectively on 24 and 26 March 2018. The events are presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the School of Humanities and Social Science of Hang Seng Management College, and jointly organised by the Art Promotion Office and the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Cultural and Creative Industries Programme of Hang Seng Management College.

Eight local and foreign artists and experts in Augmented Reality (AR) Art will introduce their AR artworks specially created for this occasion at the Heritage Discovery Centre and Hang Seng Management College and their views on the development of Augmented Reality art at the international symposium. The keynote speaker Professor Tamiko Thiel is an internationally acknowledged pioneer in creating poetic spaces of memory for exploring social and cultural issues in both Virtual Reality art (since 1994) and Augmented Reality art (since 2010).  She is currently Visiting Professor for Augmented Reality at the University for Art and Design in Linz, Austria. She has created artworks which have been exhibited around the world including Hong Kong, Singapore, London, Munich, New York and Washington DC. Her work has been collected by various institutions including the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

During her stay in Hong Kong, she will also give a public lecture sharing her experience in creating VR and AR artwork. She will talk about the theory and practice of her Augmented Reality artworks in public spaces over the last seven years. Please find the following details:
