Ms Esther Lee, Director of Student Affairs, mentioned that when she received the invitation card, she was very impressed by the iconic design of the fireflies and the glow of light around them, which made her think of ‘HOPE’. ‘HOPE’ does not only mean Hope, it also represents: ‘O’ for ‘Optimism’, ‘P’ for ‘Positivity’, ‘E’ for ‘Empowerment’. She encouraged our student ambassadors to be student leaders with ‘HOPE’.

To show their gratitude to the honourable guests, Student Ambassadors prepared a desk lamp in the shape of a Ferris wheel, on which the small light bulbs symbolised the role students ambassadors, that is, to be the light that surrounds HSUHK. The Ferris wheel also turns continuously, symbolising how student ambassadors will continue to contribute to HSUHK, as shining light and echoing this year’s, ‘Be Your Light, Brighten Our Life’ theme.

Ms Yuki Liu, Senior Ambassador, shared her experience. “I have been fascinated by this program and kept track of SA activities through social media long before I joined this university, and it was my aspiration to join this big family, to have a taste of this life!” On top of the fine tradition, to learn and to serve, this year, they will strive to achieve the additional goal, which is ‘Be Your Light, Brighten Our Life’, with a strong sense of belonging to HSUHK, and to ensure more people better understand HSUHK.

Ms Hebie Leung, the representative of the Student Ambassadors 2022-23, gave the inaugural speech in which she said “Despite our minuteness, we are never paltry. In the days to come, we will work together, learn together and thrive together. We will continue our journey by being brighter and brighter, together.” She shared her most memorable experience from the Training Camp, the Night Walk activity. Although the road was very dark and only she had read the map. However, the team completed the task successfully because of the trust between them.

Student Ambassadors Alumni Dinner

After the Inauguration Ceremony, new Ambassadors and Student Ambassadors alumni had dinner together. It was the very first time that the Student Ambassadors to have such a gathering. Special thanks to our former Student Ambassadors, Ms Myrna Lam, Ms Vivian Choi and Ms Zoe Chaung, who organised the event with the advice of the Student Affairs Office. The team hopes that more events will be organised to build stronger bonds with alumni Student Ambassadors.
