Introduction
At the high-level talks between Chinese and US officials in Alaska last year, State Councillor Yang Jiechi once spoke for 15 minutes non-stop. The woman interpreter serving him stole the show by interpreting the whole speech into English accurately. Apart from an excellent command of two languages, conference interpreters need to have a special set of skills: precise note-taking, quick response, good memory, and the ability to handle a mass of facts with ease. You will certainly find such a toolbox very instrumental when sitting for exams and developing your career. Having been a translator and conference interpreter for 35 years, the speaker will share with you the tricks.
