HSUHK confers degrees on over 1,900 graduates at Graduation Ceremony 2023

4 December 2023

The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) holds the Graduation Ceremony 2023 on 4 and 6 December, conferring bachelor’s and master’s degrees on more than 1,900 graduates. Officiating at the Ceremony are Dr Moses Cheng, Chairman of the Council, and Mr James Tsien, Vice-Chairman of the Council respectively. Members of the Board of Governors and of the Council are also present to share the precious moment with the graduates.

Professor Simon S M Ho, President of HSUHK, expresses his warmest congratulations to all graduates. “In a world where success is often measured by indicators such as wealth, fame, power and social status, it is easy to lose sight of what truly matters. In fact, success can have different meanings for different people. Success can be non-traditional, non-material and intangible such as finding happiness and love, leading a simple life, building strong relationships, realising your interests and potential, and giving back to the community. For me, success is about choices that align with our values and passions, and contribute to the wellbeing of others and society at large, regardless of wealth, fame or power.” Professor Ho encourages graduates to determine their own aspirations and a set of personal values, thereby creating a life that is truly fulfilling.

Dr Moses Cheng and Mr James Tsien congratulate the graduates and are delighted to share with the graduates the joy and excitement. They say graduation is not only the hard work and accomplishments of the past few years that graduates should be celebrating for, but they are also celebrating a very exciting new chapter in their life ahead. They advise graduates never stop learning, exploring and challenging themselves to achieve even more, and to stay confident and strong in good or not so good times.

At the ceremony, the HSUHK Teaching Excellence Awards 2022-23 are also presented to distinguished teachers who have demonstrated outstanding performance in teaching, dedication to continuous improvement in pedagogy, and have made a distinguished contribution to teaching and learning. A total of five awardees are selected this year, including Dr Victor Chan of the Department of Social Science, Dr Fanny Chan of the Department of Marketing, Dr Cathy Fung of the Department of Chinese, Dr Terence Li of the Department of Marketing, and Dr Daniel Mo of the Department of Supply Chian and Information Management.
