EDC Organised Islamic Finance Seminar

Islamic Finance has been a fast growing business vehicle in international finance platform and the trend is growing favourably globally.

On 30 November 2015, “A Global Trend for Islamic Finance” seminar was held at Alice Lam Lecture Theatre. Organised by the Executive the Development Centre & Department of Economics and Finance of HSMC, supported by our partnering units, Nova and IBFIM, the training arm of the Malaysian Central Bank, the seminar was concluded successfully with the enthusiastic participation from over 100 financial practitioners, academics, staff and students.

Mr Zairulnizad SHAHRIM, Associate Director of Islamic Market Department of Amlnvestment Bank Berhard, also an Islamic Capital Market Expert, shared the main rule of Islamic Finance. He also shared the differences between Islamic Banking and Conventional Banking – absence of interest-based transactions, avoidance of uncertainty and prohibition of gambling and related engagement.
