TransUnion and Hang Seng Management College’s Executive Development Centre to Launch Hong Kong’s First Comprehensive Credit Risk Management Course

Executive Development Centre (EDC) announced its partnership with TransUnion (NYSE: TRU) to launch a Credit Risk Management course at Hang Seng Management College on 16 March 2016. The course aimed at streamlining industry practitioners’ skills in managing and mitigating credit risks, detecting fraud and making better credit decisions. President Simon S M Ho, Vice-President Y V Hui (Academic & Research), Ms Joanna Kwok, Director of EDC, and senior management from HSMC joined Mr Samuel Ho, Managing Director of TransUnion Limited and Mr Frederick Yip, General Manager & Head of Credit Risk Management Division of Chong Hing Bank at the Opening Ceremony.

The participants of the first course are 30-plus mid to senior-level employees from Chong Hing Bank, 16 of whomattended the 3-day course conducted by HSMC lecturers and experts from TransUnion. This is part of the 16 credit risk management courses, comprising basic concepts, advanced data analytics and enterprise risk management. This retails credit risk training programme is the most wide-ranging tailor-made for banking professionals in Hong Kong.

In the welcoming speech, Vice-President Y V Hui stated, “The alliance with the industry leader, Transunion, has demonstrated our perceived high standard in executive training delivery and ability to support the development of the industry.” He also said that the course emphasises both theory and application, participants can have a thorough understanding of credit risk management behaviour.

Mr Samuel Ho shared the development of consumer credit in Hong Kong. He told the audience that “TransUnion offers a top-notch standard of consumer credit service in Hong Kong and other services, ahead of the consumer credit development in the United States, Australia and Canada.” He said that similar training programmes in Asia Pacific had also won acclaim from local banking and credit bureau professionals. He is confident that the participants can gain fruitful experiences in professional knowledge by joining this training course.
