HSUHK held the Prix de Rome Scholarship Presentation Ceremony on 4 June 2026. Established through a generous donation from Dr Stephen Suen, Founder of Chamber of Young Snow, the scholarship supports outstanding students from the University’s Department of Art and Design to undertake study tours in Rome and other Italian cities, enabling them to engage deeply with both ancient and contemporary art and culture. This year’s recipients are Himmy Lee (Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Art and Design, Year 4) and Jane Kan (Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Art and Design, Year 3).
Mr Carmelo Ficarra, Consul General of Italy in Hong Kong and Macao; Dr Stephen Suen; Professor Joshua Mok, Provost and Vice-President (Academic and Research) of HSUHK; and Professor Desmond Hui, Head of the Department of Art and Design, officiated at the ceremony.
During the ceremony, scholarship recipients Himmy Lee and Jane Kan shared their summer study plans with guests. They will travel to Rome and other Italian cities to visit major museums and historical sites and to study the works of great masters such as Michelangelo and Caravaggio. They will share their learning experiences and showcase the outcomes of their study tour to faculty members and fellow students this autumn, further contributing to artistic exchange and academic enrichment at the University.
