HSMC Received School Social Responsibility Award from Mirror Post

18 July 2018

HSMC received the school social responsibility award from Mirror Post in recognition of its efforts made in social responsibility. Entering its seventh year, the award programme included a new category – school social responsibility. Recipients were selected based on commitments to education and social development: nurturing talents with moral ethics and a sense of social responsibility, corporate governance and leadership, caring for students and staff members, community services and the promotion of environmental protection.

HSMC emphasises students’ all-round development and delivers its social responsibility in different ways: establishing the Residential College system to provide an integrated living and learning environment; organising voluntary activities to care for the needy with participation by students and teachers; organising a large-scale “HSMC FunD Run for U” charity event recently to promote community engagement and solicit public support; establishing the Institute for Chinese Language and Culture to promote cultural heritage; organising the Symposium on Business Ethics and Culture to feature the essence of traditional business ethics; conducting the Junzi Corporation Survey to select organisations which meet business ethics criteria; receiving the highest final Platinum rating for four of its new buildings from the Hong Kong Green Building Council; using bamboo materials and furniture extensively; and planting different types of bamboo to provide a greener and more sustainable environment.
