CTL Teaching Enhancement Seminar Series #4

CTL Teaching Enhancement Seminar Series #4 – Introductory workshop on characteristics of different types of SEN and supporting strategies

Objective:

To build a disability inclusive society, The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong has a long-standing commitment to helping students with severe or multiple disabilities overcome limitations and difficulties, attain a learning level commensurate with their abilities, and realise their potential.

Jointly organised by the Student Affairs Office (SAO) and the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) again, this workshop aims to equip our teachers with information on Special Education (SE) and Inclusive Education (IE).

By attending the workshop, we, the HSUHKers, can together explore evidence-based support strategies on disability inclusion, so as to enable teachers to better meet the needs of students with SEN and foster their learning and development.

Content: (The content of this workshop is different from the workshop in January)

  • Clarifying myths and misconceptions about people with mental illnesses;
  • Apart from exploring the nine different special learning needs, with a special focus on discussing and exploring cases of individuals with mild symptoms of mental illnesses, such as depression and anxiety; and
  • Conducting case studies focused on classroom experiences of students with illnesses.
