CTL Seminar: ‘QESS/TDG Project Sharing Series: Starting a Language and Culture Centre from Scratch’

10 December 2020

To let our colleagues know more about how to turn their brilliant teaching ideas into a project and to apply for funding implementing their great ideas, the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) proudly presented a new initiative, QESS/TDG Project Sharing Series, in AY2020/21.

In the second sharing of the series on 10 December 2020, CTL invited Dr Rami Chan, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Social Science and Director of the Centre for Asian Languages and Cultures, to share his valuable experience of applying for the QESS funding. Dr Chan has been funded by the Education Bureau for his QESS project, namely ‘Establishing the Centre for Asian Languages and Cultures (CALC) at HSUHK’, in 2018/19. The CALC was successfully established at HSUHK in early 2020.

In the sharing, Dr Chan shared not only the useful tips with participants on the application process of QESS project, but also the difficulties encountered when implementing the project during the unexpected COVID-19 pandemic. He also shed lights on how to communicate with the Education Bureau and adjust the planning to meet the project milestones.

The sharing seminar was well-attended online by about 30 colleagues and received positive responses on Dr Chan’s insightful sharing.
