Computing Teaching and Learning Seminar: “A Study on Applying the Self-Learning Paradigm in Teaching Advanced Technical Courses”

13 September 2017

Information technology is a fast-evolving field in the modern world. Apart from teaching fundamental knowledge of this discipline, an undergraduate programme in this field must also consist of training in self-learning skills, which is important for graduates to adapt to an ever-changing world of technology.

Dr Chui Chun Kit, Lecturer of the University of Hong Kong, was the speaker of the seminar. Dr Chui is committed to providing high-quality computer science education to students in Hong Kong. He has received numerous Teaching Excellence Awards from the University of Hong Kong. In the seminar, Dr Chui identified key differences between self-learning lab-based method and traditional classroom-based method for teaching. With the differences identified, he shared his latest study on positive effects of applying the self-learning paradigm on teaching advanced technical courses in the computer science programme.

Dr Chui shared with the audience results of his latest study.
