Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing System Training Workshops 2017

The Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) Centre is in place for conducting large-scale opinion surveys. To help all HSMC students to learn the skills of telephone interviewing, the Research Institute for Business (RIB) held two sessions of CATI System Training Workshop on 28 Apr 2017.

The training workshops emphasised hands-on and real-life experience. Soon after the facilitator finished introducing and demonstrating the CATI System, participants applied their learnt skills immediately by making phone calls to the public and conducting real telephone interviews. By undergoing the whole interview process, participants had real  experience and learnt some clues. Whenever difficulties encountered, they could seek help from the facilitator. . During the workshops, students were concerned not only about the knowledge of the CATI system, but also the telephone interviewing skills to improve the success rate of completing interviews. Skills learnt from the workshops would be useful for students who may assist in research projects related to opinion survey or telephone interviewing.
