Organised by the President’s Office with support from the PE Section of the Student Affairs Office, the “Along with the President” Series number 12: Lion Rock Hike was held on 25 April 2026. Led by President Simon S M Ho, the activity brought together 19 students and seven staff members to ascend one of Hong Kong’s most iconic landmarks — Lion Rock.
The group set off from the University and travelled to the starting point near Lions Pavilion at Shatin Pass to begin the hike. Over the course of approximately four hours, participants climbed long flights of steps and uphill paths before strolling along the Lion Rock ridge, where they enjoyed panoramic views of the Kowloon Peninsula and Victoria Harbour, as well as distant vistas of renowned Hong Kong mountain ranges such as Victoria Peak and Pat Sin Leng.
Upon reaching the summit, participants observed the unique features of the “head” of Lion Rock up close, and then descended via a steeper and more rugged trail to Lion Rock Park in Wong Tai Sin.
Participants greatly enjoyed the experience. While relaxing and rejuvenating in nature, they also took the opportunity to engage in inspiring conversations with President Ho about university life and personal growth.
