On 13 and 15 April 2026, students from the “Personal Finance and the Society” subject of the Common Core Curriculum at HSUHK held an interactive service-learning activity at a local elderly centre. Through interactive games, they helped seniors better understand retirement financial management, raised awareness of common scams, and fostered intergenerational connections.
Students noted that the game-based approach made learning engaging, with seniors actively participating and gaining practical skills. Seniors conveyed that the sessions were easy to understand and helped them feel more confident in managing their finances and avoiding scams.
As Hong Kong’s population ages and scams targeting seniors rise, such service-learning initiatives enhance student learning while helping build a safer, more inclusive community — demonstrating HSUHK’s dedication to nurturing socially responsible talents.
