28 March 2026
The School of Humanities and Social Science launched its third Creative Humanities Fest from 23 to 28 March 2026. This year’s theme, “Reinventions of Classics”, examined how traditional works can be reimagined into contemporary masterpieces.
The opening ceremony commenced with dynamic cross-cultural performances, including a “Middle Eastern Drum and Egyptian Folk Dance”, and a unique “painting with guzheng” crossover, setting an energetic and artistic tone for the Fest. A major highlight of the ceremony was a public lecture by renowned Cantonese Opera performer, Professor Franco Yuen. Drawing on over 70 years of stage experience, Professor Yuen shared how traditional stories, melodies and staging techniques can be innovatively adapted with modern elements to keep the art form vibrant and relevant today.
Other events of the Creative Humanities Fest included movie screenings, music performances, drama shows, seminars, public lectures, exhibitions, and creative arts workshops.
