HSMC Founders’ Day Dinner – Raising the Legend to New Heights


HangSeng Management College (HSMC) held its celebratory and thanksgiving Founders’Day Dinner at the Auditorium of Lee Quo Wei Academic Building, HSMC on 16 March2015. The Dinner was graced by Ms Rose Lee, Chairman of the HSMC Board ofGovernors and College Council and over 300 members, guests, alumni and friendsof the College.

Carryingthe theme “Passing on the Legend”, the Dinner unveiled a new page for theCollege by upholding the noble values centred on its motto “erudition andperseverance” and the unique “Liberal + Professional” education model. Addressingat the Dinner, President Simon S M Ho was thankful that HSMC has been widely recognisedby the Government and different sectors of society for its outstandingachievement. He presented the College’s recent development, the future directions,and took the opportunity to solicit future donations and support from thecommunity.

Duringthe Dinner, Dr Moses Cheng, Member of the Board of Governors and Vice-Chairmanof the Fundraising and Donation Committee, sang the classic “I’ll Walk withGod” and the golden pop “My Way” in accompaniment by the HSMC StudentSinfonietta on stage. The joint performance received big applause from thecrowd. The Dinner also filled the festive evening with some fantastic student performancesincluding an opening dance by the HSMCSU Dance Society, a Canto pop song “EverySingle Tomorrow” by winners of the College Singing Contest, and pipa and guitarduo by local and exchange students. Alumni representatives of different erasalso shared the highlights of their study at HSSC/HSMC.

Onthis joyous occasion, the Dinner also raised over HK$700,000 from the auctions.All proceeds will go to support HSMC’s campus expansion project and student wholeperson development initiatives. The auction items included a set of four uniquepaper artwork by local “Paper-tearing Master” Mr Lee Sing Man; a bamboo bicyclehandcrafted by HSMC students; three Chinese calligraphy and painting works byrenowned artist Professor Chen Ruigeng; and a 17th Century Chinese“Blanc-de-Chine” Reticulated Brushpot donated by Mrs Patricia Wong, member ofthe Board of Governors.

HSMCdeeply appreciated all the members of the Board of Governors, College Council,Fundraising and Donation Committee, HSMC/HSSC Alumni Association, and allorganising and supporting colleagues for their efforts that made the eveningwonderful and memorable.
