HSMC Photo Competition 2014 Award Presentation Ceremony


“HSMC in Light and Shadow” Photo Competition 2014 organised by the Communications and PublicAffairs Office (CPAO) has been accomplished and the award presentation ceremonywas held on 21 January 2015. President Simon Ho, Prof Gilbert Fong, Provost, Prof Scarlet Tso, AssociateVice-President (Communications and Public Affairs Office) and Dean of School ofCommunication, Dr Tom Fong, Associate Vice-President (Student Development andCampus Services) and Mr Dio Miu, representative of Hong Kong Institute ofProfessional Photographers have attended the ceremony.

 

The competition aimed to encourage students to take and share snapshotsof the precious moments in their campus life. This event could let every HSMCmembers have a better understanding on the campus and deepen their sense ofbelongings.

 

It was our honour to have Prof Gilbert Fong, Dr TomFong, Mr Chan Wing Wah, Lecturer of Department of Journalism and Communicationand Mr Dio Miu to be our judges. With anoverwhelming response, the Champion, the First Runner-up, the Second Runner-upand Merit Awards were selected among numerous photos. The competition speciallyestablished the “Most Popular Award” by the votes of the public on asocial network website. Meanwhile, to encourage the participation of all HSMCmembers, anew category for Staff and Alumni wasset up this year which allowed everyone in the College to take part in thiscompetition. All of the awarded photos will be published in the Collegecalendar 2015.

 

During the ceremony, President Simon Hoand Prof Gilbert Fongshared their unique experience and perception of photography. Mr Dio Miu alsoexplained the criteria of evaluation and shared his valuable experience onphoto-taking. They expressed their expectations on the upcoming year’s photocompetitions which could promote the rapid and sustainable development of thecampus.

 

An exhibition of the awardedphotos will be held after the ceremony around the campus.
