HSMC Delegation Visited the University of Macau
Ledby Professor Simon S M Ho, President, a 24-member delegation from Hang SengManagement College visited the University of Macau (UM) on 10 December 2014 to interflowand to share experience in running the Residential Colleges (RC), an importantcharacteristic of UM. Professor WeiZhao, Rector of UM warmly received the delegation and introduced the latestcampus development and the “4-in-1” education model (promoted by President Howhen he was Vice Rector at UM) to HSMC colleagues.
Duringthe visit, the delegation visited two Residential Colleges of UM – Shiu PongCollege and Cheng Yu Tung College (CYTC). The delegation first met CollegeMaster Professor Kenneth Leung (former Professor of HSMC) who introduced themission and objectives of Shiu Pong College and conducted a tour of the RCfacilities. The delegation also visited CYTC and met Master Professor ChungLing in the afternoon. Professor Chung shared the educational ideal of CYTC in nurturingstudents with noble aspirations, love of humanity, and cultural refinement. Thedelegation had a fruitful exchange of ideas and experience on residentialcolleges which would surely help the College to develop its own RC system.
Takingthe opportunity, heads of administrative/support units also met respectiveheads of UM administrativeoffices during the luncheon at CYTC and subsequent meeting sessions.
Toconclude, the delegation consideredthe valuable experience obtained through the visit a good reference for futuredevelopment of the College and the student residence halls.
