Student team’s AI project wins CUPP 2026 competition

An HSUHK student team comprising Gabrielle Inoceno (Management Science and Information Management, Year 4), Sunny Man (Data Science and Business Intelligence, Year 3) and Owen Wong (Financial Analysis and FinTech, Year 4) was one of the winners at the Cyberport University Partnership Programme (CUPP) 2026 competition, jointly organised by Cyberport and the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Upon competing against student teams from leading universities across Hong Kong, the HSUHK team received a HK$100,000 prize, which will provide initial funding to further develop their project, “AccessMonitor” — AI-Driven Performance Intelligence for Open Banking Integration, and explore its commercial potential.

The team’s success highlights HSUHK’s growing strength in FinTech, while demonstrating how research and external engagement can create valuable opportunities for students to turn their ideas into practical solutions and translate knowledge into real-world impact.
