Professor Joshua Mok, Provost and Vice-President (Academic and Research), has been appointed Founding Editor-in-Chief of the new academic journal, Perspectives of Higher Education.
The journal was launched on 11 April 2026 at a conference in Beijing titled “Gathering Higher Education Wisdom, Embracing the World”, co-organised by the Chief Association of Higher Education and Xiamen University, with support from the Chinese Ministry of Education. The event drew over 50 leading scholars from China and abroad.
In his keynote address, Professor Mok stressed the need for forward-looking higher education research amid geopolitical shifts, digital disruption, and evolving societal demands, noting, “Perspective of Higher Education aims to create an international platform that bridges theory and practice, transcends disciplinary and national boundaries, and turns academic insights into actionable contributions for social progress.”
Backed by major international organisations including the World Bank Group, UNESCO Regional Bureau for East Asia, the EU-Latin America Global Relations Centre, the Association of African Universities, the Association of Arab Universities and the ASEAN University Network, the journal serves as a key platform for sharing China’s higher education experience with the world.
