8 January 2023
As part of our Global Immersion Programme (GIP), a group of 20 Honours Academy (HA) first- and second-cohort students spent an educational and fruitful week, from 2 to 8 January 2023, in Singapore , the first destination of the GIP. Complementing the HA’s vision to transform a league of finely-selected students into smart lifelong learners and responsible global citizens who create positive impact on local and international communities, this year’s GIP granted our HA students the chance to experience Singapore, a multicultural and environmental hub of economic exuberance. It was also our absolute honour to collaborate with the Residential College 4 of The National University of Singapore (NUS).
HA students collectively, actively and critically immersed themselves in a wide variety of visits and activities, ranging from visits to Singapore’s historical landmarks, cultural and heritage sites, to the state-of-the-art water treatment technology and corporate visits, to learning from startup creators and industry leaders, and exchanges with students and faculty in the NUS along with a campus tour.
One of the highlights of our GIP 2023 was the cultural, entrepreneurial and recreational exchanges with our host, Residential College 4 of NUS. Thanks to their thoughtful arrangement and extensive network, the HA students learned some valuable lessons by a series of startup creators during the visits to the NUS Enterprise, and NUS’s Block 71.
After this GIP trip, HA students came home with newfound sense of independence and cultural acceptance. With multimedia presentations, this year’s GIP participants also shared their new perspectives as a global citizens with the larger HA family alongside their thoughts on their home city and views on how all students have unlimited potential to positively impact the world in the future.
