The Convocation for New Students 2017/18 of HSMC was held on 1 Sep 2017. It was officiated by Dr Ho Tzu Leung, member of the Board of Governors of HSMC and Governor of the S H Ho Foundation; Dr Moses Cheng, Chairman of the College Council; and President Simon S M Ho. Over 1,400 new students and around 40 exchange students attended the event.

In his address, President Ho elaborated on the importance of opportunities, attitude and transformation and wished the new students a fruitful and fulfilling journey of learning at HSMC. Ben Wong, President of HSMC Students’ Union, also welcomed all new students to the HSMC family.

Dr Ho Tzu Leung encouraged the students to have dreams and strive to pursue them. He then presented the Dr S H Ho Scholarship in Banking and Finance to the recipient, Wong Pak Yan, a BBA Year 1 student. The Scholarship, covering full tuition fees for four academic years and on-campus accommodation at the Residential Colleges, was established with a donation from the S H Ho Foundation and was offered for the first time in 2017 to students who intend to pursue a career in banking and finance, and meet the selection criteria of the Scholarship.
