Computing Research Seminar on “Deep Learning and Its applications”

20 July 2017

Deep learning has in recent years attracted a lot of attention in both the academia and different industries, as it has been proved to be very useful in a wide range of domains, ranging from computer vision, natural language processing, speech recognition to game playing. This seminar, hosted by Dr Albert Au Yeung, Machine Learning Lead Engineer of Zwoop Ltd, gave an overview of deep learning, which includes convolution neural networks, recurrent neural networks, wide and deep learning, generative adversarial networks, and some other topics in the latest development of deep learning. Some applications of deep learning in different domains were also discussed. Tools in the open source community that enable a rapid creation of prototype or even production systems utilising deep learning were also studied.

Dr Au Yeung explicated convolution neural network.
