endorsement of the relevant Chairperson or Programme Director.
Module Description
This module aims to provide students with the state-of-the-art concepts, theories and
applications of multivariate analysis, data mining and knowledge discovery as well as data
mining techniques for solving practical problems. Students have the opportunities to apply
important data mining techniques together with information technology to analyse real-life
problems in business management, economics and finance. Students are also required to
present their findings to their peers and professors in a professional manner.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this module, students should be able to:

  1. understand the fundamental principles and a working knowledge of multivariate analysis, data mining and knowledge discovery;

  2. apply data mining skills and techniques with/without the use of computer software effectively;

  3. interpret and present the results in a scientific and concise manner; and

  4. work effectively in a team and solve problems logically, analytically, critically and independently.
