Module Description
The aim of this module is to help Year 1 students to acquire a basic understanding of university education, general education and learning, to examine preliminarily the diverse nature and approaches of various academic disciplines and the inter-connectedness thereof, and to burgeon in students an intellectual ability of inquiries related to contemporary issues of the 21st century.

The format of this module is a combination of lectures, tutorials and a guided project on a contemporary issue.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this module, students should be able to:

  1. identify characteristics of university education, general education and learning

  2. develop an awareness of diversity in intellectual inquiries

  3. describe preliminarily the intellectual differences of and inter-connectedness between disciplinary fields from their concentration position

  4. intellectually examine current social, political and cultural issues in Hong Kong and the world from different disciplines.

  5. apply skills in communication, team work and presentation
