Module Description
This module provides a conceptual understanding with practice for adopting a framework of unified communications and collaboration that aims at combining various asynchronous and real-time communication methods to enhance multimedia communication, collaboration and productivity in the digital business environment. Through exploring the sophistication and functionality of today's communication technology, students can have a good grasp of the unified approach to integrating communications with advanced collaboration tools and techniques such as IP telephony, web and video conferencing, voice mail, mobility, presence, desktop sharing and instant messaging.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this module, students should be able to:

  1. recognise the importance of converged communications for the support of effective interactions in a collaborative working environment;

  2. explain the underlying technologies that enable the integration of various advanced communication tools;

  3. consider an integration strategy for enhancing business activities with interconnected systems of enterprise communication devices and applications;

  4. apply the unified approach to helping simplify and streamline online communication and collaboration processes.
