Prerequisites:	TRA1011 Fundamentals of Interpreting or with the Instructor’s permission and upon endorsement of the relevant Chairperson and Programme Director

This module provides training for students to become professional interpreters by enhancing their ability in interpreting between Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua) and English. It aims at training students intensively, practically and professionally. A variety of topics in business, tourism, politics and the media is covered. Students are also introduced to the dynamics of the local interpreting market and international professional standards.

Upon completion of this module, students should be able to:

1. demonstrate competence in being a professional consecutive interpreter;
   
   


2. prepare themselves and clients for an interpreting assignment;
   
   


3. deal with agencies and clients in a professional manner;
   
   


4. perform consecutive interpreting effectively; and
   
   


5. understand and uphold professional ethics.
