Joint-Residential Colleges and Old Hall Chinese New Year Fair 2017

The Joint-Residential Colleges and Old Hall Chinese New Year Fair 2017 was held on 6 February 2017. The purpose of this event is to bring student residents together to celebrate Chinese New Year and to expose the exchange students to the Chinese tradition in Hong Kong by inviting them to join together for this memorable event.

We were honored to invite Acting Vice-President Tom Fong (Organisational Development), Ms Rebecca Chan, Director of Student Affairs, Prof Paul Lee, RC Master of Mosaic College, Dr Paul Fung, RC Master of Wellness College, Dr Ben Cheng, RC Master of Amity College and Dr Howard Song, RC Master of Evergreen College to join this joyous event. The highlight of the event was Lou Hei, also called Rainbow Salmon Mix which is a very common practice in Malaysia and Singapore. It has many ingredients which makes it very colorful, and has a meaning of good fortune.

Each residential colleges and old hall set up their own booth with variety of traditional food and games, such as sweet dumplings, fried rice cakes, “throwing bamboo sticks into a can” and bingo. Other activities was carried out on that day including, lion dance performance by Yiu On Integrated Rehabilitation Services Centre, singing performance by Oscar who are intern from Malaysia,band performance by HSMC Band Society, lucky draw sessions and so on.
