Lunchtime Concert: Chinese Music

13 April 2016

Arts at HSMC brought a special lunch time concert of Chinese music on campus on 13 April 2016. The concert presented the “plucked-strings” section of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra (HKCO) with a mix of classical and contemporary Chinese masterpieces. This programme was supported by the Sin Wai Kin Chinese Culture Promotion Scheme.

HKCO’s commitment to music excellence and the promotion of Chinese music were seen in the meticulous arrangement of the programme and the tacit understanding among the performers. The audience was introduced to Chinese music with the chance to watch the 11 performers play yangqin (揚琴),pipa (琵琶), zheng (), zhongruan (中阮) and xiaoruan (), etc, from a close distance. Ended with a big round of applause, the concert sowed the interest in Chinese music among members of the HSMC community.
