Professor Trevor Siu had accumulated extensive and solid professional and academic experience in the IT industry and the tertiary education sector prior to joining HSMC in 2015. He started a professional career to gain valuable commercial experience after pursuing a rapid education in the UK, obtaining BSc, MSc and finally PhD degrees from the University of Essex in 1987. He first worked as a software engineer in the Cambridge Science Park, and subsequently joined British Telecom at their research Laboratories.
Professor Siu began his academic career to undertake research and development work in the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1995. He later joined Chu Hai College of Higher Education as an associate professor and was then promoted to Dean and Professor of the Faculty of Science and Engineering. During this over decade-long employment, he made significant contributions to the rapid development of the Faculty as well as the long-term development of the College in the pursuit of becoming a private university in Hong Kong, through the rigorous LPA, re-LPA and PAA processes in order to meet the accreditation standards stipulated by the HKCAAVQ. Professionally, Professor Siu is a Chartered Engineer and Member of Institute of Engineering and Technology. His research interests include distributed graphics and multimedia systems, Chinese medical knowledge engineering, and HPC applications.
