Students of School of Communication Visited the Hong Kong Stock Exchange

14 March 2019

In order to boost students’ understandings of the Hong Kong financial market, Senior Lecturers Mr Brian So, Ms Glacial Cheng and Ms Eileen Chua and Lecturer Ms Connie Chan accompanied 20 students from the School of Communication (SCOM) to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, the world’s fourth-largest stock exchange, on 14 Mar 2019.

Apart from a brief corporate introduction, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange guided a tour to the HKEX Connect Hall (the former Trading Hall), media booths for TV programming and the Museum of Finance. The tour gave students a clear picture of the history of the stock exchange in Hong Kong and the daily operation of the stock, future, and commodity markets.

The HKEX Connect Hall has been open to visitors since last year. Through this visit, students got a glimpse of the real-life operation of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and gained a better understanding of both the history and the future of the financial market in Hong Kong.
