The Centre for Teaching and Learning (Service-Learning Section) held its Service-Learning Excellence Awards Ceremony cum Student Forum 2023 on 19 June 2023, to celebrate the accomplishments of students and teachers involved in the service-learning modules. Professor Hui Yer Van, Provost and Vice-President (Academic and Research) and Dr Ben Cheng, Director of CTL officiated the ceremony and congratulated the awardees. This year, 11 teachers and 12 student project teams received the ‘Service-Learning Excellence’ Awards, and 6 student teaching assistants were awarded for the appreciation of their invaluable service.
The Student Forum was moderated by Dr Victor Chan, Associate Director (Service Learning) of CTL. Mr Justin Yum, Part-time Lecturer from Department of Computer Science and Ms Ice Kwok, Lecturer from Department of Social Science talked about their experience in implementing meaningful Service-Learning (S-L) modules, and shared tips on how to integrate academic knowledge into S-L projects. Student representatives from the S-L modules shared unique insights about their projects and positive impact their projects have had on the community.
The ceremony conveyed the power of service-learning and its impacts on students as well as society.
