The School of Communication held the SCOM Awards cum Rotary Club of Mandarin HK Scholarships Presentation Ceremony on 29 April 2021. The Rotary Club of Mandarin HK Scholarships and other academic awards of the School, including the Dean’s List and the Honour Roll, were presented in the presence of Professor Scarlet Tso, Associate Vice-President (Communications and Public Affairs) and Dean of the School of Communication; Mr Kelvin Huang, President of the Rotary Club of Mandarin HK; and Vice-President as well as other members of the Rotary Club of Mandarin HK, faculty members of the School, and also family and friends of the awardees.
In this academic year, the Rotary Club of Mandarin HK once again established three scholarships of $10,000 each to award students who have achieved outstanding academic performance and distinguished service records from the Bachelor of Journalism and Communication (Honours) programme and the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Convergent Media and Communication Technology programme. This marks the third time the Rotary Club of Mandarin HK has generously donated scholarships to the School of Communication.
In the speech, Professor Scarlet Tso expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Rotary Club of Mandarin HK for their continued support to education and the School. While congratulating all awardees on their accomplishments, she urged them to embrace challenges and walk out of their comfort zone in order to bring about changes to society.
Mr Kelvin Huang also delivered a speech and introduced the mission and work of the Rotary Club of Mandarin HK to the participants. He shared with awardees words of encouragement, appealing to them to continue to work hard to give back to society.
