12 June 2025

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the HSUHK Jockey Club Residential Colleges, 17 students from Patrick S C Poon Amity College and Fung Yiu King Evergreen College completed a service-learning tour in Kyushu, Japan. Focused on rural heritage conservation and sustainable development, the programme immersed students in cultural exchanges and hands-on volunteer work, offering profound insights into Japan’s socio-environmental challenges.

The eight-day tour included deep dives into Japanese traditions and visits to historic shrines where local guides explained rituals and etiquette. Students also engaged in a unique university exchange programme at the Oita Prefecture, touring campuses with Japanese peers to compare educational systems and campus life. Guided exploration time further allowed participants to experience local culture organically, from bustling markets to tranquil rural landscapes.
