Professor Simon Ho, President of HSUHK, was invited by the Centre for Teaching and Learning to speak at the sixth instalment of “My Learning Story” on 9 October 2025. President Ho shared insights into his life’s journey, from childhood to academia, highlighting the pivotal role of core values in shaping his personal growth.
Reflecting on his early years, President Ho shared amusing stories and experiences from his school days. He expressed heartfelt gratitude for the teachers who inspired and guided him, noting how their encouragement and feedback shaped his guiding principles and remained a constant source of motivation throughout his life.
Addressing the challenges he encountered in his personal and professional development, President Ho shared his guiding philosophy: “Where there is a will, there is a way’’. He urged the audience to adopt a positive and proactive mindset when facing obstacles in any situation, while exploring their core values. Quoting Albert Einstein, he added, “Try not to become a person of success, but rather a person of value’’. President Ho encouraged everyone to discover their self-worth and confidently forge their own paths.
