The HSUHK Mainland Internship Programme, organised by the Student Affairs Office, received funding of close to HK$2.8 million from the Youth Committee of the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau of the HKSAR Government this year, enabling nearly 60 HSUHK students from various disciplines to undertake internships in Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Xi’an. The Programme enabled students to strengthen their professional skills, experience cross-cultural communications, and learn workplace adaptability.
In Guangzhou and Shanghai, the internship opportunities focused on innovative technologies and finance, allowing students to gain hands-on experience at renowned companies and government institutions, in cutting-edge areas such as fintech and digital transformation. During the course of their internship, students developed workplace skills through practical projects and gained insight into the significant roles that the Greater Bay Area and Shanghai play in the global economy.
Meanwhile, students interning in Xi’an focused on cultural industries and tourism, and engaged in projects related to cultural heritage preservation and tourism promotion. The opportunity allowed the students to explore how culture drives local economies as they immersed themselves in China’s rich historical heritage.
