The Student Affairs Office at HSUHK and the School of Politics and Public Administration at South China Normal University (SCNU), Guangzhou, jointly organised the nine-day “Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) Greater Bay Area (GBA) Reciprocal Exchange Programme” for the first time. With a focus on ESG career exploration in the GBA, the programme was funded by the Home and Youth Bureau Funding Scheme of the SAR Government for Youth Exchange in the Mainland, and hosted over 30 students and faculty members from both universities.
The career exploration tour began with a five-day visit to Guangzhou, during which participants visited SCNU as well as relevant corporations and organisations. They also joined the “Greater Bay Area ESG Cross-Border Talent Exchange Forum”, where representatives from renowned corporations such as XPeng China and Deloitte China shared how they implement ESG practices and promote sustainable development. The Forum also featured scholars and representatives from other GBA universities, who shared insights on ESG talent development and strategies.
The participants then visited Hong Kong, and through a competition-format event, summarised the learning outcomes of the career exploration programme by proposing ideas and suggestions to promote sustainable development projects on campus at HSUHK and SCNU, as well as their respective communities.
