26 October 2024
The Student Affairs Office organised the President’s Reception for Parents on 26 October 2024, providing an opportunity for parents to engage with the University and learn about its latest developments. Around 150 parents, students, and staff members participated in the event.
President Simon Ho delivered welcome remarks. He emphasised that HSUHK prioritises quality teaching and the comprehensive development of students, aiming to equip them with leadership skills and a compassionate heart.
Dr Dacon Dai, a counsellor at HSUHK, advised parents to interact with their children as adults with mutual respect. He also encouraged parents to allow their children to explore the world while providing a sanctuary during challenging times.
Zoe Poon, a Year 4 student in the BA in Cultural and Creative Industries programme, shared her journey and experiences at HSUHK. She encouraged her peers to be open-minded and proactive in seizing the diverse opportunities available on campus and in the community to ensure a rewarding university experience.
Parents also engaged with the senior management and staff in a friendly atmosphere at the “Meeting with the Senior Management” session, and gained insights into the learning environment and student life. Information booths on Residential Colleges, career planning, student exchange, student finance, and diversity and inclusion were set up to provide parents with an overview of the support services available at HSUHK.
