The year 2025 marks the 45th anniversary of the founding of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK). Today (23 January), the University proudly kicked off its 45th Anniversary Celebrations, marking the commencement of the year-long series of celebratory programmes. On the same occasion, Professor Simon Ho, President of HSUHK, also presented the University Flag to the 2025 HSUHK Marathon Team.
The HSUHK 45th Anniversary Celebration Kick-off Ceremony was officiated by President Ho, alongside the Co-Chairman of The HSUHK 45th Anniversary Organising Committee, alumnus Mr Thomas Ching, and Ms Antonia Yeung, Associate Vice-President (Development and Campus Services).
In his address, President Ho expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all stakeholders who have consistently contributed to the HSUHK community since the inception of Hang Seng School of Commerce back in the early 1980s, including the Founders, members of the Board of Governors and the Council, donors and alumni, partners, staff, and students, as well as the Hong Kong SAR Government. Their collective efforts enabled the University to flourish in the excellence of teaching, research, and community services thus advancing societal progress.
University-wide celebratory events include a cocktail reception for the 45th Anniversary of HSUHK cum the 10th Anniversary of HSUHK – Foundation on 13 March, the Anniversary Concert at Hong Kong City Hall on 18 September, and the Green Run/Walk on 13 December 2025. Additionally, various University units will host a range of international conferences, exhibitions, competitions, and carnivals throughout the year, fostering joy and collaboration within the University community.
On this auspicious occasion, President Ho presented the University Flag to the largest ever HSUHK Marathon Team for their upcoming participation in the Hong Kong Marathon 2025 on 9 February. Approximately 150 runners, including staff, students, and alumni broke the participation record held in previous years.
