4 October 2024
To meet diverse learning needs and inspire innovativeness in teaching and learning, The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) has inaugurated The Create at M+ Tower in the West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD) as its new town centre. The opening ceremony took place on 4 October 2024, and was officiated by Ms Diana Cesar, Chairman of the Board of Governors; Dr Moses Cheng, Chairman of the Council; and Professor Simon S M Ho, President of HSUHK.
In her address, Ms Cesar emphasised that The Create opens up new opportunities for creative partnerships and student projects, enriching the overall learning experience. She expressed optimism that this new space will not only benefit HSUHK students but also enhance Hong Kong’s image as a vibrant hub for culture, creativity and innovation.
Dr Cheng extended his gratitude to the teams at the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority and HSUHK for their collaborative efforts in establishing this dynamic, multi-purpose learning centre. He also acknowledged the dedication of the teachers, administrative, and professional staff for their extensive preparations, which play a crucial role in supporting and facilitating the establishment of this new hub for the University.
During the opening event, a showcase titled “A FUTURE PALIMPSEST” was featured to display creative works by graduates from HSUHK’s Department of Art and Design through cross-media presentations.
Located on the 15th floor of the M+ Tower, The Create spans around 840 square metres and adopts a modern minimalist design to enhance spatial quality and visual impact. The centre houses classrooms and features multi-functional spaces equipped with advanced equipment and movable soundproof partition walls to provide flexible spaces for various activities. It is also designed to support the growing demand for taught postgraduate and executive development programmes while promoting public and partners in HSUHK’s educational and public engagement initiatives. Conveniently situated in the centre of town, The Create offers easy access for all users.
