Honours Academy students visit Singapore

11 July 2025

Four Honours Academy (HA) students attended the “Social Sustainability Leadership Forum” in Singapore from 3 to 11 July 2025. Organised by the Singapore University of Social Sciences, the Forum brought together university students from across Asia to explore the theme “Empowering Good Health and Wellbeing”, aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goal 3.

The HA students, Elvin Fang (BBA (Hons) in Financial Analysis and FinTech, Year 2); Charis Kong (BBA (Hons) in Global Business Management, Year 2); Charmaine Leung and Cathy Yu (BS (Hons) in Actuarial Studies and Insurance, Year 2) engaged in panels, cross-cultural workshops, community visits, and volunteering activities. They also joined an “Experiential Learning Cycle Workshop”, where they developed “Walk with Me”, a wellbeing initiative that connects student volunteers with active seniors for guided walks to promote intergenerational bonding and wellness. The project was presented at the Geronpreneurship Innovation Festival and received positive feedback for its empathy-driven and scalable design.

During their time in Singapore, the HA students visited a variety of leading social enterprises and organisations to see how social sustainability is embedded in real-world practice, and also participated in “Youths in Bloom”, a mass volunteering event with Youth Corps Singapore, where they connected with elderly beneficiaries during a scenic walk through Gardens by the Bay.
