On 6 January 2025, a delegation from the Bhutanese Royal Family led by Her Majesty Queen Mother Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck and Her Royal Highness Ashi Sonam Dechan Wangchuck visited HSUHK and had a fruitful discussion with President Simon Ho; Professor Joshua Mok, Provost and Vice-President (Academic and Research); Dr Josiah Chan, Vice-President (Organisational and Development); Professor Tam Kwok-kan, Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Science; Professor Gilbert Fong, Professor of the School of Translation and Foreign Languages; Professor Desmond Hui, Head of the Department of Art and Design; Dr Shelby Chan, Associate Dean of the School of Translation and Foreign Languages; Dr Siu Sai-yau, Director of the Research Centre for Translation of Buddhist Texts; and Ms Elisa Chan, Director of Advancement and Alumni Affairs.
Members of the Bhutanese Royal Family engaged in discussions with HSUHK on topics including art, culture, heritage, tourism, well-being, sustainability, translation, Buddhism studies, comparative legal studies, etc. HSUHK plans to explore future collaborative projects in cultural heritage management and Asian Studies which could create meaningful impacts on both Hong Kong and Bhutanese communities.
