COM3201 - Human-Computer Interaction

Year of Study:3
Credit Units: 3
Duration: 45hours
Prerequisites: COM1301 Psychology and Life
Module Description
This module aims to provide an introduction to human-computer interaction (HCI). Students will learn how to design and evaluate user interfaces for computer-based systems and devices. Theoretical frameworks, approaches and major developments in HCI are studied to enable students to design systems that effectively meet human needs. Topics in this module cover human factors, computer technologies, principles of interaction design, and interaction paradigms.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this module, students should be able to:

  • describe foundations in human-computer interaction;

  • compare different prototyping methods in the software design process;

  • design user interfaces according to HCI design principles and

  • evaluate the usability of user interfaces
