HSUHK has received a generous donation of HK$20 million from Dr Martin Lee Ka-shing, Chairman of Henderson Land Development Company Limited, in support of the University’s campus and student development. In appreciation and recognition of Dr Lee’s support, the University has named the Multi-purpose Digital Studio at the Creative Humanities Hub the “Martin Ka Shing Lee Innovation Lab”.
Dr Martin Lee Ka-shing and Mrs Cathy Chui Lee recently visited the Martin Ka Shing Lee Innovation Lab. They were warmly received by Dr Moses Cheng, Vice-Chairman of the HSUHK Board of Governors; Dr Patrick Poon, Chairman of the University Advancement and Foundation Committee; Professor Joshua Mok, President; Dr Josiah Chan, Vice-President (Organisational Development) and Ms Elisa Chan, Director of Advancement and Alumni Affairs.
Dr Lee has long been committed to youth development and to encouraging young people to think creatively. The Martin Ka Shing Lee Innovation Lab is equipped with advanced “Extended Reality” technologies which integrate Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) to create immersive experiences. It also features the industry-leading virtual production platform “Disguise” and the live production system “TriCaster”, offering real-time broadcast-grade background removal technology.
During the visit, Mr Delon Wong, Director of Information Technology, introduced the Lab’s high-resolution LED wall, which measures seven metres wide and four metres high. He also presented a professional camera supporting 6K filming, equipped with a high-efficiency autofocus system, stabilisation technology, and advanced camera tracking systems. The equipment delivered to Dr and Mrs Lee an immersive and detailed visual experience. Following the visit, both parties look forward to further collaboration to nurture a new generation of creative young talent.
