HSUHK forum discusses medical education and professional development in the Greater Bay Area

The Institute of Knowledge Exchange (IKE) of HSUHK, in collaboration with the Greater Bay Area Medical Professional Development Association, co-organised the “Healthy China: Medicine and Education Hand-in-Hand” Forum on 12 September 2026. The forum explored how Hong Kong can leverage its healthcare talent to support the nation’s transition from disease treatment to whole-life-cycle health. The forum brought together more than 200 academics, healthcare professionals, and representatives from the pharmaceutical and insurance sectors to discuss the importance of cross-sector collaboration in safeguarding public health.

Professor Sylvia Fung, former President of the Hong Kong Academy of Nursing and Midwifery, was invited as the guest speaker to share insights on healthcare collaboration between Hong Kong and Chinese mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area.

Professor Joshua Mok, President of HSUHK, said that as an educational platform, the University is pleased to provide lifelong learning opportunities for industry practitioners, reflecting its commitment to actively respond to the United Nations’ recognition of quality education as one of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Dr Ko Wing-man, a Standing Committee Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Member of the Executive Council of the HKSAR, noted that cultural differences commonly exist between the healthcare systems of Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland. He emphasised that, in addition to clinical knowledge, unified standards for management systems should be established by integrating Hong Kong’s educational resources with healthcare development trends on the Chinese mainland. He expressed his hope that HSUHK would continue to play a pioneering role and work with different sectors to develop Hong Kong into a hub for healthcare and health talent.

At the event, the University also presented certificates of completion issued by IKE to participants who had completed the Training Course for Health and Protection Insurance Planning and passed the assessment in the 2025-26 academic year.

Participants who completed the Training Course for Health and Protection Insurance Planning and passed the assessment are presented with certificates of completion issued by IKE.
Over 200 participants join the forum organised by IKE, with support from academics, healthcare professionals, and representatives from the pharmaceutical and insurance sectors.
