The Graduate School (GS) of HSUHK, in collaboration with the College of Social Sciences at National Taiwan University, launched the International Symposium on Social Change, Wellbeing and Social Policy Studies in East Asia from 23 to 24 October 2025. The symposium brought together scholars and professionals from across the region to explore the theme “The Rise of Ageing Populations: Challenges, Coping Strategies and Policy Implications”.
In his welcoming remarks, Professor Joshua Mok, Provost and Vice-President (Academic and Research) and Dean of the Graduate School, emphasised the importance of cross-border collaboration in addressing demographic challenges.
The keynote speech was delivered by Professor Terry Lum from the Department of Social Work and Social Administration at The University of Hong Kong. He introduced a social capital framework for promoting healthy ageing. Two roundtable discussions focused on comparative ageing policies and strategic communication in social policy. On the same day, two presentation sessions showcased eight interdisciplinary studies, including applications of AI in elderly care, digital inclusion, and community wellbeing.
