HSUHK and Hong Kong Police Force raise scam awareness

4 September 2025

To kick off the new academic year, HSUHK’s Anti-Scam Education and Research Programme, in collaboration with the Student Affairs Office (SAO) and the Graduate School (GS), held a series of activities to heighten students’ awareness of emerging scam trends, equipping them knowledge to identify and avoid fraudulent schemes.

On 4 September 2025, the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF)’s Anti-Deception Coordination Centre visited campus in a promotional van, sharing practical tips for spotting scams. Alongside refreshments and souvenirs, officers guided students and staff in securing popular payment apps with safety measures.

At the Welcoming Fair and Ceremony for new postgraduate students held by GS on the same day, booths manned by representatives from the police, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, the Office of the Communications Authority, and the Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department offered expert anti-scam advice to postgraduate students. These authorities also shared valuable anti-scam insights with some 350 undergraduate participants during SAO’s Welcoming Night for Non-Local Students the following evening.
