HSUHK exchange students visit Former Fanling Magistracy and Mil Mill explore Hong Kong’s culture and sustainable development

7 September 2025

The Global Affairs Office of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) organised a local guided tour for exchange students to visit the Former Fanling Magistracy and Mil Mill, the only paper beverage carton recycling plant in Hong Kong.

At the Former Fanling Magistracy, a Grade 3 historic building, students learned about its architecture, history and conservation efforts. This helped them understand more about Hong Kong’s culture and connect with the local community. Students also used recyclable materials collected by Mil Mill to create paper aroma stones, turning waste into reusable items and supporting sustainable development.

This semester, HSUHK hosts 50 exchange students from around the globe, including Belgium, France, Finland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and more.
