Twenty-three companies receive HSUHK’s Junzi Corporation Award 2025

30 June 2025

The School of Business (SBUS) at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) hosted the 14th Junzi Corporation Award Presentation Ceremony on 27 June, during which the “HSUHK Business Ethics Index” was also announced. This year, 23 companies received Junzi Corporation Awards across four categories, namely the HSUHK 45th Anniversary Special Junzi Corporation Award; the Junzi Corporation Award for Exemplary Business Practices; the Junzi Corporation Award; and the Junzi Corporation Award (Small and Medium Enterprises).

In his opening remarks, Professor Simon Ho, President of HSUHK said “In today’s rapidly changing global economy, enterprises face unprecedented challenges. From climate change, geopolitical tensions, trade wars and technological advancements, every business decision can have a profound impact on society and the environment. In this context, the ‘HSUHK’s Junzi Corporation Award’ gains even greater significance. It represents not only an honour but also a sense of social responsibility, and signifies our unwavering commitment to business ethics.”

Since 2011, the University has conducted thorough academic research and upheld the five Junzi Virtues: “Ren (Benevolence)”, “Yi (Righteousness)”, “Li (Propriety)”, “Zhi (Wisdom)”, and “Xin (Trustworthiness)” that reflect the Hong Kong business community’s overall ethical standards. During the award ceremony, Mr Ricky Lam, Associate Dean (Enterprise and Business Engagement) of SBUS announced the HSUHK Business Ethics Index for 2025, which is at 66.6 (out of 100). It shows an increase of 10.4% from 60.3 in 2024. The results reflect that Hong Kong citizens believe that the “Junzi” business behaviours of various companies have improved since last year.

A dialogue with business leaders was also held at the same occasion. Dr Lian Chan, Managing Director of DEHTLET Eco-System Limited and Professor Karen Chan, Executive Director of German Pool Group Company Limited and Founder of SPARKLE BY KAREN CHAN, were invited to share their thoughts on the topic “Integrating the Five Junzi Virtues into ESG and Business Practices”, with Mr Ricky Lam as the facilitator. The speakers shared how their own companies integrate the five Junzi virtues to promote sustainable development and innovation in terms of environmental and social responsibility, corporate mission, and governance.
