HSUHK hosts Tsimshatsui Kaifong Association Academic Hall Appreciation and Naming Ceremony

The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) has received a generous donation of HK$5 million from Tsim Sha Tsui District Kaifong Welfare Association (the Association) to strengthen its Strategic Campus Development Fund. In recognition of the Association’s unwavering commitment, an Appreciation and Naming Ceremony for Tsimshatsui Kaifong Association Academic Hall was held on 29 April. Officiating guests included Mr So Chung-ping, Chairman of Tsim Sha Tsui District Kaifong Welfare Association; Mr Lam Cho-kwong, Chairman of Supervisory Committee of Tsim Sha Tsui District Kaifong Welfare Association; Dr Patrick Poon, Governor and Chairman of the Fundraising and Donation Committee, HSUHK; and Professor Simon Ho, President of HSUHK. Over 120 attendees, including HSUHK faculty and staff, joined the ceremony to commemorate the occasion.

Since its establishment, HSUHK has thrived due to steadfast community support. Tsim Sha Tsui District Kaifong Welfare Association has played a pivotal role in advancing higher education in Hong Kong through its enduring partnership with local institutions. Since 2020, the Association has provided HSUHK students with scholarships and bursaries, benefiting countless students.

President Simon Ho remarked “We are profoundly grateful to the Association and Mr So for their unwavering support towards our Strategic Campus Development Fund. This shows their trust, support, and encouragement for the University”.

Mr So Chung-ping said “Tsim Sha Tsui District Kaifong Welfare Association remains deeply committed to empowering the community through a wide range of welfare programmes and educational initiatives, with a special focus on the elderly and underprivileged. Our continued support for Hong Kong’s institutions reflects our dedication to advancing education. To honour the exemplary service of our 27th Board of Directors and Supervisors, their names will be permanently engraved on a plaque in the Tsimshatsui Kaifong Association Academic Hall. This Academic Hall symbolises the vital connection between education and community towards nurturing the leaders of tomorrow”.

The Tsimshatsui Kaifong Association Academic Hall is a versatile venue designed for academic seminars, cultural events, and lectures, providing students with a dynamic platform for learning and engagement. Aligned with HSUHK’s unique “Liberal + Professional” education model, the Hall enhances students’ development by fostering well-rounded competencies, and cultivates young talent equipped with critical thinking skills, innovative minds, caring attitudes, moral values and social responsibility.
